Meet our Physicians and Staff! Outside of the office!

by RRC on August 15, 2010 · 2 comments

At first glance, it may appear that Wanda and Mel are prepping for surgery, but in fact, they are prepping food– food that was eventually served to some of the women and children receiving support from Kansas City’s Rose Brooks Center.

Sure, we do the regular office things like celebrating birthdays, marriages, births. Springtime found us itching to give back– back to our community.  And since we’ve got a soft spot for women and children…Rose Brooks Center was a terrific fit for our volunteering efforts.

Rose Brooks Center is a comprehensive domestic violence agency providing care, crisis intervention and support to women and children. In addition, the center provides outreach counseling, court advocacy and transitional housing.  These life-saving services have been provided to the community for over 30 years!

We were able to spend the day at the Center, and preparing lunch was a small part (but a fun part!) of that day.  Spending time here reminded us how lucky we are, at home and in our jobs, and how especially dedicated we are to women and children.  Simply put–we build families at work each day.  We are thankful each day knowing that RRC staff, along with Dr. Ryan Riggs and Dr. Celeste Brabec, will be working together, helping women and their families achieve their dreams!  (If you’d like to “meet” the rest of our staff…head over to our Facebook page!)

I hope someone can help me or provide some information. I have been told I have a distal blockage in both fallop. tubes. A tubal catheterization was unsuccessful, so IVF in our only option. The problem I have, is that my insurance will only pay for fertility TESTING, and not for treatment. I realize there are companies that offer financing, and I have contacted several of them. I am 39 years old. Due to a divorce 2 1/2 years ago, my credit is terrible. And although I can afford to pay a sizeable down payment on IVF treatment, such as $2000 to $3000 down, I would still need to set up payment plans for the rest of it, and no one will help me.
Do you know of ANY Programs that might offer financing? I am even willing to pay a higher interest rate. I am also willing to donate any fertilized embryos we don’t use, to other infertile couples. My FHS, ovarian ultrasounds, etc have all been done and my results are perfect, and my husband’s semen analysis was also perfect. We JUST can not find anyone who will allow us to make payments…

Camille,
Thanks so much for your comment and for sharing your story. Navigating insurance rules and policies can be a confusing if not daunting undertaking (as if the infertility struggle isn’t stressful enough!) At RRC, we know that this is an important issue and we will help direct you to the answers you need about your insurance plan and coverage as well as your projected treatment costs.

Benefits and coverages vary wildly from company to company, and we can help you determine exactly what it is that you can expect in terms of help from your employer. Upon your first visit to our clinic, you can expect a one-on-one consultation with an in-house insurance expert and/or our office manager, Toni Clark. We recommend that you check with your insurance company before your consultation appointment to give you a better understanding of your infertility health care benefit. (It sounds like you’ve already done this.)

We posted an interesting blog post addressing this topic (http://www.rrc.com/blog/2010/07/50-best-companies-for-fertility-and-adoption-benefits/) and it highlights companies that are doing stellar jobs of helping infertile employees and their families. Using these companies as a guide, you might consider coming up with a proposal to present to your (or your husband’s) HR/benefits department, with information and statistics that might help them make an informed decision about changing coverage levels.

We are dedicated to helping you realize your dreams of building a family, and will do everything we can to help you get there! If you’d like to give us a call and visit further, you can call us toll-free at 877-221-2323. Thanks for reading our blog!
