Ryan M. Riggs, M.D.

Dr. Ryan RiggsRyan M. Riggs, M.D. trained at the distinguished Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School (Norfolk, VA) where the first IVF baby in the United States was conceived. His experience and training with these "IVF pioneers" makes him uniquely prepared to successfully treat a wide spectrum of infertility needs.


Education and Training

Dr. Riggs received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration at Trinity University (San Antonio, TX) and attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma College Of Medicine. He subsequently completed his four-year obstetrics and gynecology residency training at the University of South Florida and for one year served as a faculty physician in the department of obstetrics and gynecology. He then completed a three year fellowship focused on advanced training in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine.

Awards, Accomplishments, and Scholarly Endeavors

Dr. Riggs is a noted surgeon, speaker, researcher, and author, having received many awards in the field of reproductive medicine and women's health. For his surgical skills, he is the recipient of the "Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures" award by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He is also the recipient of the John R McCain Prize Paper and Presentation for his clinical research in ovarian reserve (egg quality) assessment, and has published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Fertility and Sterility and The American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has special expertise related to the research and development of Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and other complex models used to predict ovarian response to fertility treatment. Dr. Riggs also serves as a manuscript reviewer for the infertility journal Fertility and Sterility.

Dr. Riggs looks forward to helping patients succeed against any odds and has experience utilizing infertility treatments for a wide range of conditions, including endometriosis, PCOS, diminished ovarian reserve, tubal disease, and in instances of genetic disease.

Dr. Riggs, a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in the subspecialty of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as well as Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He has published numerous articles and abstracts about a variety of topics in the field of infertility and reproductive endocrinology and is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
